Often called the ‘elixir of life’ Chyawanprash is said to be the oldest medicinal combination of herbs and fruits on earth with the recipe being first recorded over 2500 years ago. Chyawanprash is considered an essential Ayurvedic tonic that has a mythical history mentioned in ancient medical cannons of Ayurveda such as the Dhanvantari Charaka and Hridaya Samhitas. These sacred texts state that some 12 thousand years ago a man named Chyawan sought the fountain of youth from sages known as the Ashvini Kumars who practiced Ayurveda in the higher realms.
